This week during class we learned about cognitive develop, and Piaget stages of classification. It was so ironic to me that when Mr. Drier explained how children would chose based on the number of slices of pizza..but in reality they would be taking less amount of pizza due to the size of the slices. A similar thing happened when right in front of my own eyes Wednesday night when my billet sister Tatum started to scream and cry at me when I tried to give her the wider bowl of chips that actually had way more chips then the less wide bowl that I wanted to enjoy. It just made me laugh and immediately left the room with a chuckle and a glimpse of dejavu of the concept from class that that was so humorous to me later that day
Also for the other concepts of Piaget enjoy!

Brain Dieases
This week in class we went over brain diseases, some I never knew existed or could exist. I was dumfounded by some like savant syndrome. I would have to say honestly that it was the most intriguing topics I have ever learned about in my education so far! But anyways when we learned about savants and how their right brain takes over for the lack of a better words, for the impaired, disabled, or destroyed left brain. It immediately had me thinking through the amazement for myself, what if the brain impairment took place in the right brain rather in the left? At this point when I was thinking about and relating it back to what we had learned about the left brain and how it was the more logical mathematical half of the brain. What if "savant left syndrome" could be the solution to finding ways through mathematics to reach planets we've never been to, cure some of the most extreme illnesses, and redefine cities, or possibly solve crime all in ways that no one person have even thought of being able to do. This thought that I had in class was somewhat triggered from the class presentation and the combination of the show Numb3ers, where a mathematical genius solves crime for the FBI. Which something I could believe someone that a left brained savant souls have the ability to do, in my thinking. Maybe I just get to hyped up in the show..but it got me thinking

Left or Right Training
From our discussions this week referring especially to the left brain right brain discussions I ask the question of "Can someone be more extreme right brain or left brained if they were very dominate with either one noticeable more then the other?" But, since asking that question knowing that right brain is "artistic" and less "logical" then right brain folks.. What if someone trained themselves like some parents to their children when they're infants to become the handedness of their choice. But, the first question that came to my mind was is the brain to fully developed and wired to permanently to rewire it as an adult? Just think what if a left brained logical person could rewire themselves to accommodate their their job? Then as I was in my life issue's class on Thursday and we were talking about love, lust, and marriage the same question arose to me, what if someone could rewire themselves to match their mate's brain. Because if you think about it the divorce rate in America is 60%. What if the rewiring to become more like each other could save marriages, and give more children in America the wholesome family lifestyle, rather then a separated controversial one.

3 questions from 11/19/10
1. Collective unconscious/ Carl Jung

Well first of all I don't understand why the psych world would let the biggest coke head ever, educate future psychologists, complete nut job lol, trying to carry out is values of ya yo, and wanting to marry your mother, and slaughter your father..but anyways the collective unconscious from what I understand is based off the picture is how your brain processes things, the first section for example being the most near (feeling, emotions, recent memories.
Then those that don't fall in to the more recent category, then drop down into Personal Unconscious where things are more suppressed or forgotten you could say.. future in the past for simple terms.
B. And Archetypes were the understanding behind one person's religious beliefs along with the pattern or reasons for the way one person thinks.
2. Inferiority Complex/ Alfred Adler
What do you know Adler another one of coke heads buddies lol! But thankfully his ideas were seen as too contradictory to Freud's.. haha god forbid that right anyone would disagree with a coke shorting, father slaughtering psychologist.
The inferiority complex is the idea that you naturally compare yourself to someone else, and pull out the things that you feel are negative and that they have and are better/or more positive.
3. Women v. men and psychoanalysis/ Karen Horney
Karen one the of the most renown if not the most well known psychologist of her time, can up with the idea that women and men where both wired to be productive and accomplish things in their lives. But the women's need they she believed was influence by men, or dominated men. The reason for this to happen is that the men believe that they were supposed to work, and be successful, then to come home to a house that was made, and make babies. But, because of this action that Horney flet was pushed on them through tradtion still flet that they women as a whole was just as equally to men, or not as inferior as they were protrayed to men.

The Facebook kid
The Facebook kid
For the sake of confidentally I will use "Alex" when I recognize this young kid.
Alex is a regular gambler fan, that is the type of kid that is always at the front of the crowd, or with is arm over the railing wishing you the best of luck before you take the the ice for the oncoming period. This unbelievably cheerful young kid , that is always bright and smiling and screaming and yelling for us to beat the crap out of the other team that night turns out not to be so joyful away from the rink. Through Facebook his mom "Patty" would send me regular messages referring to the games and mentioning how Alex is always so happy at the games and how he enjoys to watch me. After several weeks of this she eventually gave me her life story, which was perfectly fine because I could tell she needed someone to talk to..Turns out that Alex's father is pretty much no-existent in his life, and Alex has a case of depression and has no moviatation in school now..All of which of course are just awful to see a 12 year old kid, and little buddy of mine see have. Turns out after a couple more weeks of seeing the shrinks he didn't make much progress and the shrink Patty told me wasn't connecting very well with him..I immediately ask for a number to reach Alex at the following night, and we talked for a half hour about everything. Seems to me that he is repressing his thoughts and his anger about his father, which is causing him this added anger at home. But, I also think that you could make a case for him using sublimation and taking out all of his anger at our games through expressing himself by being our biggest fan. Now I know it's not my business probably to of been asking this question and giving him some big brother advice. But with my help he was able to bear down and get an A+ on his science test that week, and now has turned all of his grades around. Alex and Patty are some of the sweetest people you'll ever meet, I wish them the best of best luck, and really look forward to seeing them this weekend at the games, along with keeping our routine of weekly phone conversations.
